How To Dice An Onion Properly
- When dicing an onion start out by cutting off the root and stem ends.
- Cut the onion in half from one end to the other and peel off the brown papery layers.
- Place one half of the onion on your cutting board with one of the flat sides facing down. Without cutting all the way through the onion cut 1/4″ slices down the onion.
- Place the onion half big flat side down on the cutting board. Again without cutting all the way through the onion cut 1/4″ slices into the onion parallel to the cutting board.
- Now dice the onion along the length of it in 1/4″ cuts.
How To Cut An Onion For Fajitas
- When cutting an onion for fajitas start out by cutting off the root and stem ends.
- Cut the onion in half between the two ends and peel off the brown papery layers.
- Place one half of the onion on your cutting board flat side down. When you look at the onion it should look like a rainbow on your cutting board.
- Take your knife and cut parallel to the cut end in 1/4 in slices.
- Break the slices apart if needed.
How to cut an Onion Into Rings
- When cutting an onion into rings start out by cutting off the root and stem ends.
- Make a little slit and peel off the brown papery layers.
- Place the onion on your cutting board rounded side down.
- Take your knife and cut parallel to the cut end in 1/4″ slices.
- Break the rings apart if needed.
How To Cut An Onion Into Cubes
- When cutting an onion into cubes start out by cutting off the root and stem ends.
- Cut the onion in half between the two ends and peel off the brown papery layers.
- Place one half of the onion on your cutting board flat side down. When you look at the onion it should look like a rainbow on your cutting board.
- Take your knife and cut parallel to the cut end in 1 inch slices. Keep slices together.
- Then with the slices still together slice the onions in the opposite direction in 1 inch sections.
- Break the slices apart if needed.
